How to prevent barbed wire from corroding?

Since most barbed wire is used outdoors, we often see it around grasslands. If barbed wire isn't treated for corrosion, its surface exposed to the air will continuously absorb oxygen, causing oxidation and rust. Over time, this corrosion will render the barbed wire unusable. Therefore, consumers need to regularly treat the barbed wire for corrosion protection after purchase. So, how can we prevent barbed wire from corroding?
I. Galvanized Surface Corrosion Protection
Based on the processing method, barbed wire can be divided into galvanized and PVC coated types. Currently, most products on the market are galvanized. Galvanized barbed wire is made by drawing iron wire of a certain diameter using a wire drawing machine and coating the surface with a zinc layer that provides corrosion protection. This galvanized protective layer isolates the inner iron wire from contact with the outside air, preventing oxidation and providing a certain degree of corrosion protection.
II. The quality of the galvanized coating on the outside of the barbed wire must be good.
If the galvanized coating on the outside of the barbed wire is not as good as the quality of the raw materials inside, there will usually be no zinc layer as a protective layer at the cross-section, and oxidation will occur at the cross-section over time. Although the contact area is small, it can easily cause corrosion of the entire barbed wire if it is not treated for a long time. Therefore, consumers should pay extra attention during use.
