How to determine whether manufactured welded wire mesh meets quality standards

There are many manufacturers of welded wire mesh, but product quality varies; some meet standards while others do not. Galvanized welded wire mesh lacking a certificate of conformity can still find its way onto the market, so how can a buyer determine if the product is up to standard?
High-quality galvanized welded wire mesh is made from low-carbon iron wire. It is formed using automated, precision machinery for spot welding and finished with a hot-dip galvanizing process. Produced according to standard British specifications, the mesh features a smooth, neat surface, a sturdy and uniform structure, and excellent overall performance. The mesh surface must be free of "double wires" (overlapping parallel wires); broken sections may be repaired via lap welding, with the repair site painted using silver paint. Quality standards dictate: no more than two instances of broken or detached welds; an arc height (flatness deviation) of no more than 200mm; weld tensile strength of 20N for 0.5mm wire and 500N for 2.5mm wire; a zinc coating weight exceeding 122g/m²; and perpendicular alignment of warp and weft wires, with weft skew not exceeding 3300mm.
1. Wire diameter tolerance must be controlled within 0.02mm. For example, if purchasing mesh with a nominal wire diameter of 0.89mm, a micrometer measurement should fall within the 0.87mm–0.91mm range to be considered qualified. While high precision is possible, perfect control during mass production is difficult; since the mesh can be manufactured to a precision of 0.01mm, a small margin of error is permissible.
2. The welded wire mesh must have a tensile strength of at least 120N; otherwise, it is considered substandard. There is no simple field test for this; verification requires professional tools and expert testing, so we will not detail the procedure here.
3. To be considered qualified, the wire ends protruding from the edges of the mesh must not exceed 2mm. At every intersection of the warp and weft wires, the weld must be secure; however, for the edges to be welded firmly, the weft wires must extend slightly beyond the edge—though not excessively. Generally, an extension of no more than 2 millimeters is considered acceptable.
